Each advertisement or public announcement and each circular or card made or issued by any insurance company authorized to transact business in this state, which purports to make known the financial standing of any such company by a statement of its assets, shall, with equal conspicuousness, give its liabilities and a summary of operations computed on the basis allowed for its annual statement, and no such public announcement shall be made until such statement has been filed with the Insurance Department of this state, provided nothing herein shall prevent any such company from (a) sending to its shareholders printed statements of its condition as of December thirty-first next preceding or (b) sending to its shareholders or publishing financial statements prepared in accordance with general

History: 1967 act required that advertisements, announcements, etc. give a summary of operations; 1971 act substituted “shareholders” for “stockholders” and added provisions re financial statements incorporated as Subdiv. (b); P.A. 77-614 placed insurance commissioner within the department of business regulation and made insurance department a division within that department, effective January 1, 1979; P.A. 80-482 restored insurance commissioner and division to prior independent status and abolished the department of business regulation; Sec. 38-57 transferred to Sec. 38a-829 in 1991.
