Text

(a)There is hereby created as a body politic and corporate, constituting a public instrumentality and political subdivision of the state created for the performance of an essential public and governmental function, to be known as the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange. The Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange shall not be construed to be a department, institution or agency of the state. The exchange shall serve both qualified individuals and qualified employers.
(b)(1) (A) The powers of the exchange shall be vested in and exercised by a board of directors, which, until June 19, 2013, shall consist of twelve voting members. The appointment of the initial board members shall be as follows:

(B) and amend same to add prohibition re employees serving as consultants to certain trade associations, to redesignate existing Subdivs. (2) to (4) as Subdivs. (1)(C), (2) and (3) and to add Subdiv. (4) re employees enrolling in state medical plan, and made technical and conforming changes, effective June 15, 2012; P.A. 13-247 amended Subsec. (b)(1) by designating existing provisions as Subpara. (A) and making conforming changes therein, and adding Subpara. (B) re board membership on and after June 19, 2013, and made technical and conforming changes in Subsecs. (c)(3), (c)(4) and (f), effective June 19, 2013; P.A. 14-235 made technical changes in Subsec. (b)(1)(A)(viii) and (A)(ix); P.A. 15-118 made technical changes in Subsec. (c)(3) and (4); P.A. 16-129 amended Subsec. (c)(8) by adding provisions authorizing board chairperson to procure insurance product equivalent to required surety bond, deleting provision re surety bond to be approved by Attorney General and filed in office of Secretary of the State and making conforming changes; P.A. 17-15 made a technical change in Subsec.
