Text
(a)There is established a Connecticut Seafood Development Council to assist in the promotion of Connecticut seafood products and examine market opportunities. The development council shall be within the Department of Agriculture. The development council shall consist of the following thirteen members:
(1)The Commissioner of Agriculture, or the commissioner's designee;
(2)the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, or the commissioner's designee;
(3)the Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection, or the commissioner's designee;
(4)the director of the Sea Grant Program at The University of Connecticut, or the director's designee;
(5)one freshwater finfish producer appointed by the Governor;
(6)one aquaculture finfish producer appointed by the speaker of the House

P.A. 03-6, thereby reversing the merger of the Departments of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective June 1, 2004; pursuant to P.A. 11-80, “Department of Environmental Protection” was changed editorially by the Revisors to “Department of Energy and Environmental Protection”, effective July 1, 2011; P.A. 21-24 designated existing provisions as Subsec. (a) and amended same to change “Connecticut Seafood Advisory Council” to “Connecticut Seafood Development Council”, replace provisions re members with provisions re same and designate as Subdivs. (1) to (13), add provision re commissioner serving as chairperson and make technical and conforming changes, and added Subsec. (b) re council to receive, expend and seek funds.
