Text

The Commissioner of Public Health shall require each person applying for licensure as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant to submit to a state and national fingerprint-based criminal history records check pursuant to section 29-17a. For the purposes of this section, “physical therapist” means an individual licensed for the independent practice of physical therapy, “physical therapist assistant” means an individual licensed to assist in the practice of physical therapy in this state under the supervision of a physical therapist and “licensure” means authorization by a state physical therapy regulatory authority to engage in the independent practice of physical therapy, the practice of which would be unlawful without such authorization.
