Text
The Commissioner of Public Health shall require each person applying for licensure as a professional counselor to submit to a state and national fingerprint-based criminal history records check pursuant to section 29-17a. For the purposes of this section, “professional counselor” means an individual licensed for the independent practice of professional counseling and “licensure” means authorization by a state professional counseling regulatory authority to engage in the independent practice of professional counseling, the practice of which would be unlawful without such authorization.
