§ 20-195ggg — Music therapists. Definitions.

Connecticut·Title 20 Professional and Occupational Licensing, Certification, Title Protection and Registration. Examining Boards·Ch. 383f Music Therapists

As used in this section and sections 20-195hhh to 20-195kkk, inclusive:

(1)“Commissioner” means the Commissioner of Public Health;
(2)“Department” means the Department of Public Health;
(3)“Music therapy” means the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed a music therapy program approved by the American Music Therapy Association, or any successor of said association; and (4) “Music therapist” means a person who has been licensed as a music therapist under the provisions of sections 20-195hhh to 20-195kkk , inclusive.

(P.A. 16-66, S. 35; P.A. 23-31, S. 43.) History: P.A. 23-31 amended Subsec. (a) by deleting Subsec. designator, added new Subdivs. (1) and (2) defining “commissioner” and “department”, respectively, redesignated existing Subdivs. (1) and (2) as Subdivs. (3) and (4), amended Subdiv. (4) by deleting Subparas. (A) and (B) re music therapist qualifications and adding provision re licensure as music therapist, and deleted Subsecs. (b) and (c) re music therapist certification.
