Text

(a)There is established a Bureau of Services for Persons Who are Deaf, Deafblind or Hard of Hearing which shall be within the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
(b)The Commissioner of Aging and Disability Services, in consultation with the Advisory Board for Persons Who are Deaf, Deafblind or Hard of Hearing established pursuant to section 17a-836 shall, not later than October 1, 2024, hire a director of the bureau. The director shall (1) have professional experience in serving the needs of deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing persons, and (2) be (A) able to communicate in American Sign Language, and (B) familiar with effective interpretation methods to assist deafblind persons. The commissioner shall also hire an administrative assistant for the director.
