Text

(a)If a physician determines that a child is in need of immediate hospitalization for evaluation or treatment of a mental disorder, the child may be hospitalized under an emergency or diagnostic certificate as provided in this section for not more than fifteen days without order of any court, unless a written application for commitment of such child has been filed in the Court of Probate prior to the expiration of the fifteen days, in which event such hospitalization shall be continued under the emergency certificate for an additional fifteen days or twenty-five days if the matter has been transferred to the Superior Court, or until the completion of court proceedings, whichever occurs first.
