(a)Any person who is a patient in a hospital for psychiatric disabilities upon the order of any Probate Court, or his or her representative, may make application to the Probate Court for the district in which the hospital is located for his or her release from the hospital. Upon receipt of any such application, such court shall assign a time, not later than ten days after the date the application was filed, and a place for hearing such application, and shall cause reasonable notice of such hearing to be given to the applicant, to the superintendent of the hospital where the applicant is confined and to such relative or relatives and friends as the court deems advisable.
