On and after July 1, 2023, the Department of Education shall annually offer a training program to newly elected members of local and regional boards of education. Such training program shall be developed by the department and include, but not be limited to, the role and responsibilities of a board member, the duties and obligations of a board of education and school district budgeting and education finance. The Department of Education may collaborate with an association that represents boards of education in the state, and accept gifts, grants and donations, including in-kind donations, to implement the provisions of this section.
