Text

(a)For purposes of this section “teacher” means a certified professional employee who is employed by a local or regional board of education (1) in a position requiring a teaching or other certificate issued by the State Board of Education but who is not in a position requiring an intermediate administrator or supervisor certificate, or the equivalent thereof, and (2) whose administrative or supervisory duties, if any, equal less than fifty per cent of the assigned time of such employee.
(b)There is established the Connecticut Advisory Council for Teacher Professional Standards. The council shall be composed of nineteen members as follows:

(b), effective May 21, 2024; P.A. 24-41 amended Subsec. (e) by replacing “State Board of Education, the Governor” with “Commissioner of Education”, deleting “teacher preparation” and “teacher certification” and adding “the equitable distribution of teachers, diversity of the teaching workforce, special education, testing and assessment of students, school safety and social-emotional learning” in Subdiv. (1), deleting former Subdiv. (2) re review and comment on regulations and standards concerning approval of teacher preparation programs and teacher certification, adding new Subdiv. (2) re sharing perspectives on impact of proposed policies and initiatives on classroom practice, adding new Subdiv. (3) re provide suggestions and feedback on guidance to be sent to school districts related to implementation of such policies and initiatives, and redesignating existing Subdiv. (3) as Subdiv. (4) and amended same by replacing “State Board of Education, the Governor” with “commissioner”, effective July 1, 2024.
