For the purposes of this
part 2, any reference to custody, confinement, charged with, held for, or convicted
of, a felony, misdemeanor, or petty offense shall be deemed to include any felony,
misdemeanor, or petty offense under the laws of this state and any felony,
misdemeanor, or petty offense having similar elements under the laws of another
state, the United States, or any territory subject to the jurisdiction of the United
States.
