(1)This part 2 shall not apply to law enforcement
officers employed by jurisdictions outside this state, so long as the foreign
employing jurisdiction exempts peace officers employed by jurisdictions within
Colorado from any concealed handgun or concealed weapons laws in effect in the
foreign employing jurisdiction.
(2)Notwithstanding any provision of this part 2 to the contrary, a retired
peace officer, level I or Ia, as defined in section 18-1-901 (3)(l)(I) and (3)(l)(II), as said
section existed prior to its repeal in 2003, within the first five years after retirement
may obtain a permit by submitting to the sheriff of the jurisdiction in which the
retired peace officer resides a letter signed by the sheriff or chief of police of the
