The provisions of this chapter authorizing the commission to acquire interests in real property include the acquisition of structures and improvements situated on lands sold by the State subject to the reservations provided herein. Such structures and improvements shall be acquired, however, only upon the written request of a lessee under this chapter, to whom the State has granted the right to extract the oil and gas or other minerals from such lands, and only upon the agreement by the lessee to reimburse the State for the cost and expense of such acquisition and the deposit by the lessee with the commission of such security as it may require.
