The advisory board shall acquaint itself with the conduct of the jails in the county, keep itself informed about the administration of the industrial farm or industrial road camp, and report its recommendations and suggestions to the board of supervisors. It may visit any jail within the county, examine the records thereof, and ascertain whether or not there are any persons illegally committed to or detained at any jail.
The advisory board shall encourage recreational and educational activities on the industrial farm.
