Text
Every prisoner released from a prison without this state to which he has been committed or transferred from this state pursuant to this article shall be entitled to the same benefits, including, but not limited to money and tools, as are allowed to a prisoner released from a prison in this state. Any person who has been sent to another state for confinement pursuant to this article shall be released within the territory of this state unless the person, the Director of Corrections of California, and the corresponding agency or official of the other state shall agree upon release in some other place. This state shall bear the cost of transporting the person to the place of
release.
