Upon the death of the prizewinner, the prize may be paid by any of the following methods:
(a)
To the trustee of a trust established pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 8880.325, or, if the trust has been terminated, to those beneficiaries entitled to distribution under Section 8880.325.
(b)
To one or more beneficiaries designated on a form approved by the commission for that purpose, executed by the prizewinner, filed with the commission in accordance with regulations adopted by the commission to govern those designations, and in effect upon the prizewinner’s death.
(c)
In the absence of an assignment to a trust or a beneficiary designation, the prizewinner’s prize may be paid, as follows:
(1)
To the personal representative of the testate or intestate estate of a deceased prizewinner upon receipt by the commission of a court order and letters appointing an executor, administrator, or other personal representative of the estate of the deceased prizewinner, or pursuant to a final order of distribution.
(2)
As provided under Part 1 (commencing with Section 13000) or Part 2 (commencing with Section 13500) of Division 8 of the Probate Code.
(3)
To a person or persons designated under an appropriate judicial order adjudicating rights to the ownership of the prize.
