(a)
Each court of appeal may appoint and employ during its pleasure a Clerk/Executive Officer of the Court of Appeal, and other phonographic reporters, assistants, secretaries, librarians, and other employees as it deems necessary for the performance of the duties and exercise of the powers conferred by law upon it and its members. Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, each appellate court may determine the duties and, subject to subdivision (b) of Section 19825 of the Government Code, fix and pay the compensation of all of its officers and employees.
(b)
All salaries and expenses incurred under this section shall be paid from the funds appropriated for the use of appellate courts, when approved by order of the courts.
