Text
Upon satisfactory proof that a member has lost his or her life in the performance of his or her duty, leaving a surviving spouse or children under age 16, the board shall order an annual pension of one-third the annual salary attached to the rank he or she held at his or her death paid to the spouse during his or her life. If there is no surviving spouse, the pension shall be paid to the children until they attain age 16.
