Text
The boundaries of Monterey County are as follows:
Beginning in the Pacific Ocean, at the southwest corner of Santa Cruz; thence east to the mouth of Pajaro River, on the Bay of Monterey; thence up said stream to a point in its center, said point being the northwest corner of the Rancho las Arromitas y Agua Caliente, and also the northwest corner of San Benito, and running thence in a southerly direction along the southwest boundary of said rancho to the southwest corner thereof; thence southerly in a direct line to the northwest corner of the Rancho las Vergelos; thence southerly in a direct line to the summit of the Gabilan Range of mountains; and thence southeasterly along the summit of said Gabilan Mountains to the Chalone Peak; thence southeasterly in a direct line to the division line
