§ 12816.5. — 12816.5. (Added by Stats. 2022, Ch. 48, Sec. 28.)

(a)Within the Government Operations Agency there shall be a Chief Equity Officer. The Chief Equity Officer shall be appointed by, and serve at the pleasure of, the Governor. The Chief Equity Officer shall report to the Secretary, or the Secretary’s designee, of the Government Operations Agency.
(b)The Chief Equity Officer’s duty shall be to improve equity and inclusion throughout state government operations. The Chief Equity Officer is hereby authorized to engage with state entities for the purpose of improving equity and inclusion practices within state entities.
(c)The Chief Equity Officer may create, update, or publish, in consultation with the appropriate control agency, policies, standards, and procedures for state entities in the State Administrative Manual, Human Resources
