(a)Every constitutional amendment, bond measure, or other legislative measure submitted to the people by the Legislature shall appear on the ballot of the first statewide election occurring at least 131 days after the adoption of the proposal by the Legislature.
(b)Notwithstanding subdivision (a), the Legislature may specify, in the text of a measure that proposes an amendment or revision of the Constitution, that the constitutional amendment or revision submitted to the people shall appear on the ballot at a statewide election other than the election specified in subdivision (a), if the election specified in the measure would occur at least 131 days after adoption of the measure by the
Legislature.
