Any parent, guardian, or other person having control or charge of any minor subject to this chapter who fails to perform any of the duties imposed upon him by the provisions of Section 48450 is guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be punished as follows:
(1)
Upon a first conviction, by a fine of not more than fifty dollars ($50) or by imprisonment in the county jail for a period of not more than five days.
(2)
Upon a second or subsequent conviction, by a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50) or more than five hundred dollars ($500), by imprisonment in the county jail for a period of not less than five days or more than 25 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
