The allowance of maximum area to a district for the attendance units in junior high schools of the district composed of grades 7 to 9, inclusive, or 7 to 10, inclusive, shall be determined pursuant to this section, rather than Sections 16052 and 16054. This section does not apply to junior high schools composed of grades 7 and 8 only. There shall be allowed to each district a maximum area for the attendance units of the district in junior high schools determined by computing, in accordance with the following paragraph, the number of square feet for the attendance units at each junior high school attendance center of the district, and totaling the number of square feet so determined for all attendance units in all such junior high school attendance centers of the district.
