A.The board shall establish, design and administer a defined contribution plan to provide for the retirement of specified participants beginning July 1, 2017.
B.The purpose of this article is to provide a defined contribution plan that is fully funded on a current basis from employer and participant contributions.
C.The legislature intends that the defined contribution plan for participants under this article be designed to be a qualified governmental plan under section 401(a) of the internal revenue code, as amended, or successor provisions of law, and be exempt from taxation under section 501 of the internal revenue code. The board may adopt any additional provision to the defined contribution plan that is necessary to fulfill this intent. Consistent with this intent, the board may
