A.The department of health services may develop and conduct a program of care and treatment services through appropriate treatment facilities for residents of this state suffering from cystic fibrosis who are twenty-one years of age and older. Costs of the program shall be borne by the state, subject to appropriation, except as provided by subsection B.
B.Care and treatment services shall be provided without cost to indigents as defined by the rules and regulations of the department of economic security. The cost of care and treatment services for indigents shall be borne by the county in the same manner as costs for medical care for the indigent sick of the county pursuant to title 11, chapter 2, article 7.
