§ 6-5-1202 — Purpose of Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program - Grant funding

(a)The purpose of the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program is to:

(1)Prepare more students for:

(A)Success in higher education;

(B)Postsecondary training; and (C) Careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics;

(2)Increase the number of students who graduate from institutions of higher education; and (3) Support and enhance Advanced Placement initiatives already operating in the state.

(b)(1) The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education shall provide grant funding to organizations that implement measures to achieve the goals of the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program.

(2)An organization that receives grant funding to implement the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program under this subchapter shall:

(A)Be affiliated with the N

(a) The purpose of the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program is to: (1) Prepare more students for: (A) Success in higher education; (B) Postsecondary training; and (C) Careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; (2) Increase the number of students who graduate from institutions of higher education; and (3) Support and enhance Advanced Placement initiatives already operating in the state. (2) An organization that receives grant funding to implement the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program under this subchapter shall: (A) Be affiliated with the National Math and Science Initiative; and (B) Have demonstrated success with an Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program. (3) An organization that receives grant funding to provide the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program may: (A) Develop public-private partnerships to advance math and science learning opportunities; (B) Generate revenue from public or private sector entities to support other opportunities; or (C) Accept grants, donations, gifts, or bequests. (c) Grant funding provided by the division to an organization under this subchapter shall be used to: (1) Support and enhance the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program; (2) Pay for personal services and operating expenses required to carry out the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program; and (3) Pay for technology, materials, and other resources used in the Advanced Placement Training and Incentive Program.
