§ 21-6-311 — Debit card and credit card payments

Text

(a)A county may:
(1)Accept a legal payment and any associated costs through a debit card or credit card in accordance with applicable state and federal law; and (2) (A) Enter into a contract with a debit card company or credit card company and pay any fee normally charged by the debit card company or credit card company for allowing the county to accept the debit card or credit card as payment as authorized under subdivision (a)(1) of this section.
(B)When a payment is made through a debit card or credit card, the county shall assess a transaction fee equal to the amount charged to the county by the debit card company or credit card company which may be added to the payment amount.
(b)This section does not affect § 16-13-705 or § 26-35-506 .
