Text

As used in this subchapter:

(1)"Newborn infant with hearing impairment" means a newborn infant who has a disorder of the auditory system of any type or degree causing a hearing impairment sufficient to interfere with the development of language and speech skills;
(2)"Newborn infants at risk" means those newborn infants who are at risk for hearing impairment because they have one (1) or more risk factors;
(3)"Risk factors" are those criteria or factors, any one (1) of which identifies a newborn infant as being at risk for hearing impairment, as determined by the Department of Health and set forth in rules promulgated by the department;
(4)"Screening infants for hearing impairment" means a procedure for employing a device for identifying a disorder of the auditory system, but the procedu
