Text

(a)When a person licensed by the Division of Emergency Medical Services dies in the course of employment, in recognition of and appreciation for the service of the deceased person, the Department of Health may award one (1) United States flag to the deceased person's spouse or family.
(b)As used in this section, "in the course of employment" means at any time when a person is:
(1)On duty in the capacity for which he or she is licensed by the department; or (2) Performing an act ordinarily performed in the capacity for which he or she is licensed by the department, although the person is not on duty at the time.
(c)This section does not limit or deny the right of any person or the person's survivors to any other benefits provided by law.
