§ 15-43-204 — Local election to redetermine doe killing area

(a) (1) Whenever fifty (50) or more qualified electors residing within an area wholly or partly located within their particular county that has been designated by regulation of the Arkansas State Game and Fish Commission as a doe-killing area petition the appropriate county court, praying that an election be held to determine whether or not such an area or portion thereof should remain a doe-killing area, the county court shall order a special election in accordance with § 7-11-201 et seq. to be held at the next special election date under § 7-11-205 . (2) Only those qualified electors residing within the affected area or portion thereof that is located within the county where the election is held may vote in the election. (3) Except as provided in this section, the election shall be held in conformity with the general election laws of this state. (b) At the election it shall not be necessary to have a ballot title, but there shall be printed on the ballot the following: Click here to view form. (c) (1) If a majority of the qualified electors voting at the election vote for the commission regulation, the area or portion thereof within the county shall remain a doe-killing area in accordance with the regulation. (2) If a majority of the qualified electors voting at the election vote against the commission regulation, the regulation shall no longer have any force or effect with respect to the area or portion thereof located within the county wherein the election was held, and the killing of doe deer therein shall be unlawful.
