§ 14-92-236 — Public contributions to road or street improvement districts

(a) (1) The county court is authorized to turn over to any road or street improvement district organized under this subchapter that proportion of the road tax, as may be just and equitable, or any portion of the automobile or gasoline tax. (2) The county court is further authorized to contribute these funds in money or scrip to the expense of the improvement from the general revenue of the county as it may deem appropriate. (b) (1) Any such district is authorized to receive any part of the funds that may be set aside by the United States Government for the improvement of public roads and any that may be set aside by the government of this state for aid in the improvement of public roads. (2) The board of commissioners of the district and the Arkansas Department of Transportation are authorized and directed to take such action as may be necessary to secure any of these funds for these districts as an improvement of a part of the public roads of the state in which the state has an interest.
