§ 14-236-105 — Local laws

(a)A municipality may adopt an ordinance or regulation applicable within the jurisdiction of the municipality that governs the same subject matter as this chapter and may include requirements that ensure:
(1)Proper design, construction, installation, maintenance, and operation of sewage disposal systems;
(2)Protection from environmental harm; and (3) Sound financial planning and operation of sewage disposal systems, including without limitation reasonable reserves for maintenance and repair.
(b)The provisions of any ordinance or regulation of any municipality establishing standards affording greater protection to the public health or safety shall prevail within the jurisdiction of the municipality over the provisions of this chapter and rules adopted hereunder.
