§ 11-3-201 — Enticing away laborer prohibited - Penalty

(a) If any person shall interfere with, entice away, knowingly employ, or induce a laborer who has contracted with another person for a specified time to leave his or her employer before the expiration of his or her contract without the consent of the employer, then, upon conviction before any justice of the peace or circuit court, he or she shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500). (b) In addition, he or she shall be liable to the employer for all advances made by him or her to the laborer by virtue of his or her contract, whether verbal or written, with the laborer and for all damages that he or she may have sustained by reason thereof.
