§ 10-3-304 — Sessions - Studies - Cooperation of state agencies

(a) (1) The Legislative Council shall convene at any time during the interim between regular sessions, fiscal sessions, or special sessions of the General Assembly and shall remain in session for such time as it considers necessary for the consideration of all matters relating to state government, not however, for more than a total of ninety (90) days which need not be continuous. (2) The Legislative Council shall convene and hold its sessions at the State Capitol at the seat of government or at other places as the Legislative Council may determine, and ample notice of all sessions shall be given by the Executive Secretary to the Legislative Council in advance of the sessions. (b) The Legislative Council shall undertake such studies or investigations as may be directed by the General Assembly or either house of the General Assembly. In addition, any member of the General Assembly shall be privileged when the General Assembly is not in session to submit resolutions or study proposals to the Legislative Council for its consideration, study, and recommendations. (c) The Legislative Council shall report any findings and recommendations to each regular session, fiscal session, or special session of the General Assembly for the repeal or amendment of existing laws or for the enactment of new laws with respect to the operation of the state government or with respect to any matter that is a subject for legislative consideration. (d) All departments and agencies of the state government are directed to cooperate with the Legislative Council and with the Bureau of Legislative Research in providing assistance, information, or data when requested so that the General Assembly might be fully advised of all matters with respect to the operation of the various state agencies, departments, and institutions.
