Text

(a)The General Assembly finds that:
(1)On June 12, 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed into law the Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, Pub. L. No. 80-625 allowing women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the United States Army, United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, and United States Air Force;
(2)Women Veterans Day is observed on June 12 in the United States to mark the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, Pub. L. No. 80-625;
(3)Women Veterans Day is acknowledged as an effort to honor the work of women in the United States Armed Forces and recognize the unique challenges that women have faced; and (4) Many states have officially recognized June 12 as Women Veterans Day.
