Text

(a)(1) In Shelby County, if the Judge of Probate of Shelby County is licensed to practice law in Alabama, the judge of probate shall receive a salary equal to the salary of a district judge in the county. Any judge of probate covered by this section after June 18, 2003, shall begin drawing the minimum salary of a district judge and shall be entitled to receive any increases in the same manner as a district judge based on years of service thereafter.
(2)In the event the judge of probate is covered by subsection (a), all rights of the Judge of Probate of Shelby County to receive any expense allowances, other compensation, or salary supplements are terminated when the judge of probate begins drawing the salary provided in subsection (a).
