Text

(a)In Shelby County, a booking and administration fee in the amount of thirty dollars ($30) shall be assessed by the clerk of the court or the municipal official assigned the responsibility for assessing, entering, and collecting costs of court as court costs against each defendant incarcerated in or booked in the Shelby County Jail if the defendant is convicted or pleads guilty in cases prosecuted in the circuit court or district court of the county or in a municipal court of any municipality located entirely or in part in the county.
(b)If the court suspends imposition of sentence on a defendant or places him or her on probation and does not enter a judgment of conviction, the court shall impose the booking and administration fee as an additional court cost.
