§ 45-58-232 — Feeding Inmates

(a)The County Commission of Shelby County may appropriate funds for the purchase of lunches for prisoners working at hard labor away from the Shelby County Jail and for prisoners of the State of Alabama who are performing work for and with the approval of Shelby County under any program allowed, sanctioned, or approved by the State of Alabama, its agencies, or departments.
(b)The County Commission of Shelby County may appropriate funds for and make an allowance, in its discretion, not to exceed ten dollars ($10) per week to each prisoner at work for Shelby County under a sentence of hard labor or for prisoners of the State of Alabama who are performing work or labor for Shelby County pursuant to any voluntary programs approved, sanctioned, or offered by the State of Alabama, its agencies
