Text

(a)All laws to the contrary notwithstanding, no sale of the Shelby County Medical Center shall be consummated without prior referendum approval of the terms of the sale by the qualified electors of the county.
(b)The Shelby County Commission is hereby authorized and empowered to call a referendum election as may be necessitated by the provisions of subsection (a). All costs of the election shall be paid from the county general fund. Notice of the election shall appear in a newspaper of general circulation in the county at least twice prior to the date of the election.
