Text

(a)The Sheriff of Russell County may operate a jail canteen and the inmate telephone system within the confines of the county jail to serve the needs of the county inmates. After the cost and operating expenses are deducted from the income, excluding any income from fees paid for the boarding and feeding of prisoners, the net revenues shall be deposited in the Inmate Welfare Fund which is hereby created.
(b)The Inmate Welfare Fund may be expended at the discretion of the sheriff for salaries, equipment, and supplies for the county jail, or for any other legitimate law enforcement purpose.
(c)This section is cumulative to any law providing funds for the operation of the Russell County Jail or for funds expended in the discretion of the Sheriff of Russell County.
