Text

(a)(1) The County Commission of Russell County, upon the adoption of a resolution by a recorded roll call vote, may levy an additional annual issuance fee of up to ten dollars ($10) on each motor vehicle registration in the county. This issuance fee shall be in addition to all other charges, costs, taxes, or fees levied on the issuance of all annual motor vehicle registrations.
(2)Those persons exempt from paying ad valorem taxes under Section 40–9–21, are exempt from the annual issuance fee authorized by this section for one motor vehicle per year.
(b)The annual issuance fee shall become due at the same time the state license and registration fee becomes due pursuant to Section 32–6–61, provided the fee shall not be collected more than once in a 12–month period per motor vehicle.
