Text

Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 40–12–10 and any other general or local law of this state to the contrary, the Russell County Commission may hire a county license inspector who shall hold the office at the pleasure of the county commission and shall perform the functions and duties required by law of such officer independent of the sheriff of the county. The county commission shall set the compensation of the county license inspector at a rate not to exceed six hundred dollars ($600) per month plus up to 25 percent of all penalties collected under citations written by the inspector or his or her duly appointed deputy.
