In Randolph County, vacancies in municipal offices not otherwise provided by law and in the county offices of sheriff, county superintendent of education, county commissioner, tax collector, and tax assessor shall be filled by appointment of the Governor or by a special election called by the Governor when 50 percent or more of the term of the office is remaining at the time of the vacancy.
