Text

(a)In Pickens County, all persons incarcerated or booked in the Pickens County Jail shall be charged five dollars ($5) per day for incarceration. This fee shall be in addition to all other costs and charges imposed on persons who are incarcerated or booked in the Pickens County Jail. The fee provided by this section shall be assessed by the court upon any conviction in the county. The sheriff shall notify the circuit clerk on a regular basis of the exact amount of the assessment for entry on the docket sheet.
(b)The county sheriff shall hold in escrow all monies which are in possession of a person at the time the person is booked or incarcerated in the Pickens County Jail. If the person is convicted of a crime, the court shall assess the fees provided for in subsection (a), and order pay
