The governing body of the City of Decatur is authorized and empowered to grant a retirement pension benefit in the amount of ($50) fifty dollars per month to those retired employees of the city or their designated beneficiaries who are currently receiving a retirement pension benefit from the city’s initial retirement plan with the Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company. The pension benefits granted to such retirees or their beneficiaries shall be paid from the city general fund.
