Any individual who has been committed to the custody of the Alabama Department of Corrections, the Morgan County Sheriff, or the jail of any municipality in Morgan County which elects to participate in the programs authorized by this subpart, may be released therefrom by the court having jurisdiction, either on its own motion or upon the motion of the defendant, at any time before sentencing or during the term of sentence, for the purpose of obtaining and working at gainful employment or for such other purpose as the court may deem conducive to his or her rehabilitation, for such time or intervals of time and under such terms and conditions as the court may order.
