(a)(1) The position of Chair of the Blount County Commission is established. The first chair shall be elected on a countywide basis at the general election in 2024 following a primary election, if applicable, at the same time and in the same manner as any primary election for members of the county commission. The chair shall take office at the same time members of the county commission take office following their election. After the election and swearing in of the first chair after March 28, 2022, the judge of probate shall no longer serve as chair of the commission.
(2)The chair shall serve a term of six years commencing at the same time as the term of members of the county commission provided by general law. Successor chairs shall be elected in the same manner at the general election ev
