The Chair of the Marshall County Commission shall have the following powers and duties in addition to those as may be otherwise provided by the laws of this state:

(1)All of the powers, duties, limitations, and responsibilities, with relation to the commission as does the judge of probate with relation to county commissions under the general laws of this state, except insofar as such powers, duties, limitations, and responsibilities may be inconsistent with this subpart.

(2)Be the presiding officer of the commission and shall have the same powers as other members of the commission in passing on all questions that may come before the commission including, but not limited to, the power to vote.

The Chair of the Marshall County Commission shall have the following powers and duties in addition to those as may be otherwise provided by the laws of this state:
(1) All of the powers, duties, limitations, and responsibilities, with relation to the commission as does the judge of probate with relation to county commissions under the general laws of this state, except insofar as such powers, duties, limitations, and responsibilities may be inconsistent with this subpart.

(3) Keep and sign the minutes of the commission and be the custodian thereof which duties, except for the signing, he or she may delegate to any employee of the commission. Provided however, in the event of any delegation the performance of such functions shall be under his or her direct supervision and control.
(4) Supervise and control payments from the funds of the county and sign all warrants and checks drawn on the county depositories and all orders for the disbursement of funds of the county.
(5) Sign all contracts entered into by the county.
(6) Supervise the operation of the office of the commission, keep the books and records of the commission, and see to the general custodial, janitorial, maintenance, and repair of the courthouses and other buildings of the county except district shops, which shall be under the control and supervision of the respective district commissioner, and toward this end he or she shall have the authority and power to hire and fire all necessary employees to carry out the duties herein imposed upon him or her.
(7) Prepare the tentative and final budget of the county to be presented to the commission for approval.
(8) No debt or obligation of any kind shall be incurred against the general fund of the county without the approval of the chair of the commission.
