(a)Effective beginning the next term of office of the coroner in January 2023, the Coroner of Madison County shall receive an annual salary of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000). The salary shall be paid from the general fund of the county and shall be paid in the same manner as county employees are paid. In addition, the coroner shall be entitled to participate in the county health insurance plan and receive any other benefits to the same extent, under the same conditions, and in the same manner as county employees, and the coroner shall be entitled to receive uniform increases in compensation, such as cost-of-living raises, in the same amount as uniform increases in compensation granted equally to county employees by the county commission.
